Service Details:

Micro Concrete - Avcrete MC 60 does not contain any chlorides, sulphates, amorphous silica or harmful chemicals. With low permeability, it is known as superfluid microconcrete, widely applied for large section repairs ranging from 50 mm-200 mm. Depending on configuration of the repair, location and volume of exposed reinforcing steel, higher thicknesses can be achieved with this concrete.

Advantages:

• Suitable for large volume repairs

• Provides excellent protection against carbonation and chloride attack
• Exceptional flow allows pumping or pouring into restricted locations
• Self-compacting nature eliminates honeycombing and displaces air without vibration
• Does not contain any chlorides, sulphates, amorphous silica or harmful chemicals.

Preparation:

• Rigid, tight formwork should be used with properly sealed faces to prevent loss of material and to make sure that no water is absorbed from the repair material
• Drainage outlets should be included in the formwork for pre-soaking
• There should be a provision for air venting
• There should be suitable access points to pour or pump the mixed micro-concrete into place
• Break out the complete repair area to a minimum depth of 50mm
• Remove ant dust, unsound or surface contamination from the surface
• The surface must be roughened and any laitance must be removed by hacking, chipping or sand / grit-blasting
• Expose fully any corroded steel in the repair area and remove all corrosion deposits
• Steel should be cleaned to a bright condition

Precautions:

• Shutter or material should not be vibrated
• Light, but not excessive tapping of the shutters is permitted

Curing:

• Until the compressive strength of 10 mpa is achieved, the formwork should be left in place
• In case of fast drying conditions, supplementary curing with polythene sheeting taped down at the edge is recommended
• After the strapping of formwork, any kind of delay in the curing process will have adverse effects on the product performance

Shelf life:

• Storage conditions- cool and dry place at temperatures between 5 C and 35 C
• Expected shelf life- 6 months (in case it is a sealed bag and protected from high temperatures and high relative humidity)
